HEALTHY COMMUNITIES
school community fridges
In the Lower East Side, residents voted for a School Community Fridges program through a participatory budgeting process funded by the City’s Taskforce on Racial Inclusion and Equity (TRIE) and Civic Engagement Commission (CEC). 1,992 residents of the neighborhood aged 11+ voted for School Community Fridges making it the winner with 61% of the vote.
Beginning September 21st, 2022 students and families of the following schools will have access to a plant-based community fridge maintained by GOLES and Artists, Athletes, and Activists:
Fridges will be stocked weekly for families of students from the above schools. Contact your parent coordinator - found at the links above - for additional questions.
